Ford those who have welded in their own Cab corners...

hey guys...I was wondering if its easier to do the Cab corner replacement with the truck on the frame....I have redone the inner walls of the corners now need to weld in the new patches themselves...I have limited ability to lift the cab up to work on it so was thinking the outer part of the replacement could be done on the frame...all input is appreciated..thanx

I forgot to say I would also try to have your doors on to check line up, I did not do this and sadly have to go back and work on this :0

I welded mine with the cab off, but I don't think it matters as long as the cab mounts are strong.

Our's was welded with the cab off the frame - It was easier to get at the corners & we had substantial work to be done replacing the structural supports under the cab. One caveat - We didn't adequately support the cab while it was off & it was not square when we tried to put it back on - very paiinful "stretching" exercise with a hydraulic jack to get it trued up.

If you take it off brace it real well.

I did mine with the cab off, cause I needed to patch the area over the chassis and it wouldn't have provided enough room with the chassis there
