hey, i have an 03 6 litre f350, i really love the truck but i cant really drive it due to the problems and question so i'll go ahead and list em and maybe someone can help me
EGR: what are the benifits of removing it totally, and just cleaning it.
the electric system seems to stay on all the time, which has killed my batteries
majjjjooor power loss: normal driving, and the max i can go is 100 km/h and it takes like 5 minutes to reach that lol, i'm 17 and bored, this has really been bothering me though lol, i'm looking for stuff i can do in house, but i have a shop that i use to maintain trucks for my parents company.
the egr cooler on your 03 is a good one its 05+ that you need to worrey about
get some gauges on it you need to check the ECT vs EOT deltas this will verify the condition of the oil cooler
oil cooler plugging is what usually takes out the egr cooler
gauges on these 6.0 are a must the gauges on the dash suck
I use a scangauge its cheap and gets alot and then you can see what work if any needs to be done
Check the Tech folder. It's the second thread in this forum. Lots of good info about the trucks and engines. The 6.0 bible is great for getting familiar with where stuff is and the pics make it easy to find the parts you're reading about. There is also links to threads about different problem and logical ways to sort out problem that don't make sense.
i still haven't figured out the electrical problem, although it seems like a gem module, i would think the lights would go all crazy like other people have reported, everything in mine just stays on, power lock windows radio, odometer.
if anything i'll spend all day tearing that beast apart looking for corroded wires and such.
look under the dash on the drivers side. Above the fuse box. See any evidence of water?? Corroded wires, white chalky substance?? If so, the windshield is leaking onto the GEM.
Depends on degree of corrosion...... a little? Cleaning prob will work. Get a can of elect contact cleaner from Radio Shack or electronics store and use it. WD40 is a good water dispersant too.... NOT a good cleaner tho....
ok, so ive opened up the truck a little, took off the fuse box, only problem is, i cant find the module :s, yes there are signs of corrosion on some of the metal, where is the module mounted>?
