I just got a 2002 Explorer XLS I had to put an engine in and now that its running I figured I would make sure everything works before I give it to the wife. The rear window doesn't open and the power door locks don't work. When I push the lock button it has a click in the right side behind the second row seating. it also clicks in the same place when trying to open the rear glass. I tried with the buttons on the doors and with the remote, when using the remote the parking lights flash and horn beeps like everything is fine but the doors don't even try to lock or unlock.
It does run great with the reman long block from Ford. So I guess I can't complain about the truck. I am just lost on this one since everything I have owned was either a F150 or a Mustang. Thanks in advance for any and all help with this problem
When you say the "rear window doesn't open" are you referring to the rear glass on the liftgate or one of the rear door windows?
For the power locks it sounds like the remote Body/Central Security Module is getting triggered but for some reason none of the power locks are working. Sounds like a likely broken wire. If a wiring diagram would help, send me a Private Message with an e-mail address for you and I'll send you a PDF of the power lock/remote entry wiring diagram. The diagrams are broken out as "Early build" and "Late build" but I don't see a cutoff date for either.
From the diagram, it appears there is one wire that could cause all power door locks to stop working, that is the Pink/black wire (Pin 1) from the Central Security Module. It is common to all door locks and the liftgate lock actuator. If it's really just the window glass that doesn't release and not the rear liftgate lock, then I'm still stumped.
Hi, it is just the lift glass that doesn't open. When I push the remote to open it, it just clicks in the alarm doorlock box. nothing else happens. If you have a wiring diagram that would be great. Email is 68mustangconvert@comcast.net Thanks, I appreciate the help, this is something the wife can't do without. she needs her power options.
