Correct carb?

I have a '67 f100 that I am currently building a 300 I6 for. I just bought an Offy DP intake. They recommend no higher than a 500 cfm carb, but I got a REALLY good deal on a Holly Street Avenger 670 (brand new in box). My question is: what adverse affects will the bigger carb have? Should I sell it and get a smaller one or will it work just as good as a 500 cfm? Also... the block is from a '92 f150, so I have the EFI split exhaust manifolds. I want to use them for now instead of buying expensive headers. Does anyone know where i can get just the pipes, without the cat, that will bolt up to the manifolds? I also plan to use the head from the 240 that is currently in the truck.

That carb will run fine, no worries. It may need tuning, it may not. You'll just have to run it to see.

Summit sells aftermarket y-pipes to fit, or any competent exhaust shop should be able to bend one up for you. Get new studs put in the manifolds before you put them back on the truck. Probably need the old heat wrench to get them out...

I'm interested in yer ol carb if U R gettin rid of it.

I have a 250 I want to make as much tq in low revs as possible. Figure any 300 carb will help w/that (same bore - 1 3/4 inches). I DO however seek one that is as low in hight (the hood hits) as possible. Pretty tight in a bronk - EB '70. Yours is the oem Carter YF for the 300?

Any1 know of other 1V on the 300 (esp if "low rise")? Where 2 get 1?

I have a Holley 600cfm on mine and it runs really well. I think the downsides to a larger carb on a smaller engine are a little less throttle response at lower RPMs, but nothing serious.

You just won't be using all of the secondaries, or may not ever get out of the primaries for that matter.

chrlsful,

I have some insight into what I believe you are seeking [carburetor], but not wanting to "hijack", why don't you PM me.

I tried to PM you, but your "in box" is full.
