Transmission Fluid Temp

Most of you all may already know this but the transmission temp gauge on the vehicle is not very senstive. I purchased a scan gauge and installed it on my 2004 2wd V10 excursion. The vehicle gauge reads the same from 100 to 160 degrees. In my case, the fluid temp runs 150 degrees at 65 mph on a 80+ outside temp day in Florida towing nothing. For any transmission guys out there is this transmission fluid temp okay?

The gauge will read in the middle of normal when the trans temp is between 50F and 230F.

A trans temperature that is 60-100F above ambient temperature is normal.

Tom, I have a Pro-Comp gauge installed in my X and during the summer (75-85 degrees) it runs about 150 while running around town and short highway trips. Pulling the 8k lb camper, it runs 180 or so. You are safe up to 230 or so for short periods....In heavy stop and go traffic, it can climb up there pretty good, too.
