Is there a difference between the 2wd and 4wd versions of these trannys?

Plus the boss where the T-Case shifter mounts. Probably what you meant by the tailshaft.

Is it possible to mate a t case to a 2wd tranny or am I just pissin in the wind?

As long as it's a divorced T-Case and you just have to fab up the shifter mount. There are quite a few on here that have done it.

X2 a divorced t-case is doable with 2wd tranny, just a matter of fabbing the short shaft and cross members.

Might be easier to find a real 4x4 tranny and married tcase
