comming home from work this morning had the cruise set @ 60, bummped down to 50 in the next speed zone and was good 4 about 1/4 mile then the truck accellerated rapidly (down shifted 2 gears 5000 rpm). hit the brakes when i reached 70. that really woke me up after a long night @ work. truck is all stock 04 w/ v10 auto, 3.73 rear. has anybody ever had a similar experiance ?
this is the second or third time this has happened, cruise works fine 99% of the time , this was the most aggressive acceleration it has had it was like i punched the pedal to the floor.
I call BS on that video. I have driven a Chevy Cruze and they seem to be nice cars. They have been receiving positive reviews all around. Anytime anything happens with a car it is with a mother, grandmother, and child in the car. Never is it Larry, the 45 year old, single white guy that knew exactly what to do in the event and stopped the vehicle without incident and called a tow truck. First off, even if the wheel came loose, it would still steer the vehicle if it was held in place, and as there is no damage to the car, I would say that it was a relatively minor incident other than the **** puckering moment when you notice the steering wheel has come loose.
Now, I know folks on here are quick to pounce on GM, but at the end of the day, they are still an American car company that is trying to do the best they can with what they have to work with. There have been no other reported cases of steering wheel failure on a Cruze or any other Chevrolet automobile for that matter, so therefore if one fails in 100K+ vehicles, that is a minuscule rate of failure. Nothing is perfect and infallible.
