Need Help. Cruise control acting up!

My cruise control quick working the other day after hitting a bump on the freeway. Tried to set the speed 4 times after that and it would hold then it felt like I hit the brakes and it would't hold anymore. Later that day and today it worked fine

IIRC check the VSS. It is located on the rear differtial.
