e4od swap 91 to 93

I have a 1991 e350 2wd 7.3 with a bad tranny. I bought a 1995 e350 2wd rebuilt tranny hoping to swap it out. The casting numbers on the housings are identical. When I took the tailshaft housing apart on the 91, I found that the speedometer cable has a gear and senser which is driven off a worm gear that is pressed into the tailshaft for a mechanical speedometer. On the 95, i believe it was converted to an electronic speedometer, therefore, no worm gear on the tailshaft and a different harness than the one on the 91. Is there anyway that i can adapt the 95 to the 91 tranny?

Yes there is. Take both transmissions completely apart. Use the output shaft from the '91 to start the rebuild of the '95. Don't just put all the parts in, there are measurements that have to be taken and selective fit washers used to get the right clearances.

Use the solenoid body from the '91, too, as I think I remember the wiring is different.
