E4OD shifting problems
So a while back it had no reverse one day, checked the fluid, a little low, toped it off and problem gone. Then a week or two later I was towing a tractor home on the trailer….In OD…(probably the root cause of my problems) and the OD light starts flashing, drove it the rest of the way home in drive. Thinking that I just ran it hot I reset the computer, dropped the pan and changed the oil. The old oil wasn’t black but it had a funny smell, not really a burnt clutch smell, and it was a dark red. The bottom of the pan was relatively clean.
Now I have shifting problems, reverse kicking in/out, and major hesitation between gears and then a hard head jerking shift. Pulled the codes last night and had a 14, PIP failure in the continuous memory, (ignition profile pickup circuit failure), as it is a diesel I thought it was garbage and cleared the memory. Drove it to work today, had everything from slush box shifts to head jerker’s depending on what I was doing, OD on/off, slow accelerating, mashing the skinny pedal, and none of the problems consistently in any particular gear. Got the OD light blinking again and checked the codes when I got home. Again got the PIP, and a code 62, trans 4/3 circuit fault. I think I got this one while winding it out between D & OD.
Last night I checked the plug connection at the neutral safety switch (forgot the correct abbreviation), checked the trans plug, it looked like it may have been a little wet but it didn’t look corroded, blew it out, gooberd it up with dielectric grease but still had the problems today.
TC seems to be locking up OK.
Thinking about throwing together a breakout box to see if the SV’s are firing when they are suppose to, but I’m really thinking it’s a TC or valve body problem.
Any Ideas?????

Code 62 means there is slip. I don't know where you got a "trans 4/3 circuit fault" description, nor do I have any idea what a "trans 4/3 circuit" is.
Usually a code 62 happens from a bad torque converter. The converter clutch apply piston tends to crack, allowing apply pressure to leak past the piston. A new converter will fix this.
My dime store code reader has this 4/3 circuit fault listed in the book for code 62, apparently I need to call someone in Taiwan to tell me what it means.
I’m by no means a trans expert but I’m thinking I have to agree with you, I don’t believe its control issues, the fact that the problems are in all gears and not even consistently the same all the time, and the fact that it’s been a slow & jerking shifter as long as I have owned it kinda makes me think it’s not clutches or valve body but the TC.

I’ll start calling on prices this morn.

Ok, next issue. Is there a vender that sells the clutch disks for the double disk clutch rather than having to dish out the bucks for a complete rebuilt unit? 92 F350 4X4, 7.3 non turbo.

If you mean torque converter clutch disks, yes, you can buy them, but you don't want to. I suspect they only sell large quantities and you have to have the equipment to bond the material to the steels. Plus you have to cut the converter open and weld it back together.
