Ignition swtch. Problem - Guide wire?
I have a 88 Ford Ranger. The ignition switch (not the key cylinder, but the sliding switch with the electrical plugin connector) was falling apart, I managed to hold it together with a twist tie for a while.
Then started seeing intermittent starting. Could always get radio and lights though. I replaced the switch, after finding the right tamper proof bit, and nada - no lights, no electrical at all?
There was a wire that held the switch together when it came out of the box, is that important to the process? It stuck in a little hole on one side and wrapped around the bottom of the switch, like it was meant to hold it together? COuld not find anything on that.
Could it be a bad part? Not sure what to do next. Thx much for any help.
