if ya gotta replace it, doesnt get any easier than that. what injectors/pump is he runnin? i just cant resist askin. clean setup.
In that picture he has a stock pump and injectors. He is leaving the pump and injectors stock until the engine is broken in and bugs are worked out. I told him to start out with 5x18's, but I'm not sure on what pump mods he's going to need. It has a 215 pump and he wants to run a 5K GSK. I have never messed with a 12v pump before so the AFC mods, and delivery valves are out of my realm for now. I do have a good idea on how to get the timing set though.
The engine has cryo'd 12v rods w/ H11 rod bolts, 14mm H11 main studs, girdle, Mahle pistons w/ valve reliefs and bowl work(14.5:1 compression), sleeved to STD bore, coated main and rod bearings, Hamilton 200/220 cam IIRC, Hamilton springs/retainers, chromoly pushrods, CR tappets, mild head porting and o-ringed, 12mm H11 head studs, HTT66 turbo, HTT CR manifold, bolt in freeze plugs, billet tappet cover, billet intake plenum?, etc.
He wants to see what it can do on the single 66, then later down the road he wants to bump up to twins, so we'll probably hang an S483 or an S488 under the 66 and put more fuel to it at some point.
well damn hes not playin around. you can run a good amount of timing if he wants to spin that high, and the compression is that soft. its obvious the man has some plans for that thing! youre in for a treat messin with the p-pump, it can be frustrating at times cuz ya gotta play with it a lot to tune it to your setup, but its a very loveable piece of equipment. you should look into the "adjust on the fly afc". . .or just remove it altogether dependin on what hes doin
A cat on the grille does not make an engine under the hood. The engine in that truck is a C15 lower end, with international air and fuel controls. So yes, you can still get 1/2 a cat engine on road.
I think you better define what guide lines you are using when you say best. It all depends on what you want it for.
I personally love the GM 6.5. Why you may ask, well they are cheap, reliable, get good mileage, will pull a car trailer down the road without problems.
Now if you want to go bump a sled that's another story!

Yeah, he's got some plans for it. Lol. Looking for 10s on fuel only in an 8000 lb Super Duty. Luckily I've got some guys that know the P-pump better than myself that can help out with that. He's hoping to be able to drive it a tiny bit on the street too. Im still trying to get him to pull that stock head and run one of Zacks new cast heads(Hamilton), but haven't convinced him yet. Lol
My 7.3L build is being done with keeping up with that 12v in mind. Im pretty sure im going to need nitrous to do it. Lmfao
