What next?

Hi!Why Ford make so much different engine models,I know it's probebly International,Before Ford make its own engine,in the future 6.7.Is it bad idea just make contract with Cummins and put Cummins in the best truck?

I dont think they could do that since Dodge already has the contract, also the 6.7l is a new design, and it has not been out long enough to see if it will live up to the standard set by the 5.9l.

the F-650's and F-750's are already availible with the 5.9l Cummins, so i dont see why the F-250's-F550's couldnt be optioned with them. that said, international still has much to offer. as does ford's in-house development team. maybe ford will ditch international and cummins alltogether and just create their own killer diesel.

Because of the contract Dodge has with cummins. Since Dodge uses the Cummins in the RAM2500-5500, ford can't use it in the F250-550

The thing that gets me is for the amount of money a 3/4 or 1 ton cost, you would think that you could SPEC.- OUT completely a truck the way you want it. Engine, drivetrain, tranny, etc. I remember when you could buy a Kenworth, Peterbilt, Freightliner for the price of a pickup today & get it anyway you wanted it.
