The Ex got softer springs than the pickups for a smoother ride and lower ride height to fit into the garage. Soccer mom's don't want to scrape ice in the AM . (I just moved to So.Cali. to avoid the latter).

Ok, gotcha. I put mine in the garage right now so once I do the spring change it most likely will not fit? The total raise seems to be about 1-1/2"?

Some garages have an adjustable stop to make the door open a little more (higher). Do some measuring with your truck in the garage now - see how much wiggle room you have.

Ok, I will. I would like to keep it garaged because I got a great deal on this EX and it was garaged so the body is excellant shape and I want to keep it that way so the truck will last me several years.

I tested my height and had about 3" to work with in my garage. So you should have some skinny room, just measure at multiple points on the truck as you tuck it through the garage door. Depending on the surface grade some.

Also consider how worn your tires are and factor in the added height of the additional rubber on the new set of tires you'll get in the future.

Those are all very good points. I will check. I know I can adjust the door so that it opens farther. My tires still have alot of tread so new tires won't be too much higher than it is now. Now did you have 3" of clearance with the roof racks or without?

My clearance was without the roof racks. It didn't have them when it was new to me. I have a very slight grade going into my garage which could make the measurements misleading. Just roll her in a foot at a time and measure to the bottom of the open garage door. Try the cross bars in different locations too, to make sure all angles and setups work.

Also consider if you get a buildup of snow or ice at the entrance of the garage. This could put you an inch higher without thinking about it.

Ok. Thanks for the info. I have a slight grade going into my garage also. I will do some measuring.

That makes no sense. I have 3/4" space in there and do offroading and have the same components he has. It only bottoms out on big dips etc.

Don't worry about dum questions, if you want to learn someting; it's not dum. And you're right, basically that's all it is.

What do you mean about 3/4" spacing? Are you using factory springs? I really won't be pulling much with the EX. I will be doing some offroading while hunting.

With your factory worn out front springs, offroading is NOT a good idea.
This is not healthy, kidney's, teeth falling out and neck injuries are almost certain!

You have the same components, yet your stops are ok but his need replacing, yet I make no sense?

Brent, it's my opinion you're singling me and my post out solely because of the cup holder thread, so please just stop. Either take it to PM's with me or just knock it off because you're detracting from the OP's thread.

kconrad sorry for the hijack. Have you checked to see if you have a local spring shop in your area than can make you stronger springs like the V code/B code modification a lot of Excursion us owners do, but at a cheaper price than what Ford wants for their springs? Maybe something in your budget?

It's just a thought.

3/4" between the bumpstop and the spring. My truck rarely bottoms out and when I go offroading I just slow down for the dips etc. it's really not a problem and I would just replace the bumpers unless you have no space in there. Any springs you put in there are going to give you a stiffer ride but that's fine if you don't care but these things ride stiff already.

I'm getting confused here kconrad, I don't see anywhere that you have a 4wd and you never said front or rear springs.
