just wanted to pass this on. I found this filter a while back. its a WIX top quality filter. same flow rate, burst strength, etc. what is different is the filter micron size. nominal size is 10 micron. standard filter only go down to 28-35 microns. I'm due for my 3rd oil change(5-6k each) since switching to this filter, and I can definately tell its cleaner. the oil still gets dark buts its not dark black"can't see through it" kinda dark. I feel the filter is doing a better job of catching the little stuff.
I have found them on line here:Wix 51734XE Qty of 3
3 filters at half price with 99 cent shipping. I haven't been able to find any parts houses that stock them and they want $40 bucks to order ONE.
I work my truck and like to take good care of it. check this filter out if you feel the same way.
It started out about the big donaldson filter, but quickly added some good info about what nominal micron ratings really mean. If you're happy with the filter, stick with it. I still think the above thread is at least a good read even if you only check the first page.
