I bought the truck and it didn't have one...just had a K+N under the hood. I put a 6637 in and have been thinking about closing it in the battery box some how. Should I bother?
John....Most all of us have them just like you have yours.Looks good Hoss.
I used a K&N tube as well on mine, works great.
ha, thanks...i just wondered cuz it gets pretty hot during these summer days! I had to bolt the clip on the side of the battery box to keep the tube from bouncing around, although its a pretty tight fit as-is...did you have a similar situation?
someone posted drawings/plans to make a home made enclosure for the 6637. I had a friend print them on a plotter for full size template and never got around to building it. I'm not certain who or when. If you are interested I can search, I know I have the file on my PC. I'd want to find the OP to give credit too.

Nice, I cut the bottom of my box up a little bit, so the chances of a blueprint being applicable is slim. I doubt it would be hard to make a custom enclosure, it's essentially just a box. I just wanted to make sure I was losing any power/mpg by having it out in the open getting all that hot air off the motor
The only part of my stock box that remains is what the battery needed. To answer your question though, I can monitor intake air temps (using factory sensor) and at most I see 10-15* over ambient temp in either of my PSD's. Cruising down the hwy its never that high... F350 has 6637 (sensor zip-tied to fuse box) and Excursion has AIS.
I think post-CAC temps are in the 300* range and I doubt 20* on the intake-side will affect that much.
Be sure that the small rough spots left by the old air cleaner don't rub a hole in the cloth cover of your 6637. I installed part of an old Ch*vy wheelwell liner in there protect the cloth cover. Drive it 50 miles and then inspect the air filter to be sure that all is well.

I rounded off all the rough spots contacting the cover...I'll give it a check later tonight just to make sure...thanks!
