6637 and stock battery box

When I installed my 6637 I was hesitant to cut the "tray" that the stock lower airbox half bolted to out because I kept telling myself that down the road when I build a cold air setup, I could sell the whole assembly. Well, today I gave up and cut that bugger out of there- the filter fits in there much nicer and won't hit the hood anymore. It should also keep things from rubbing more holes in my fancy Pete cover. So if anyone else is on the fence like I was, get out your cutting instrument of choice and cut away!

I've been tempted but have resisted. I've now decided to make my own homemade battery mounting bracket so the 6637 fits more nicely, and at the same time keep the entire stock battery/filter box intact.

Congrats on making yourself happier with your install, Chase.

I don't understand what you are talking about. I didn't have to cut nothing out. Fits great with only taking the air box out.

Mine fits great I hardly have ant rubbing from the hood side. I have a nice tight fit so there is no worry about anything coming loose.

It's funny this has been a topic so many times... Mine fit fine with out cutting anything and dose not hit the hit... But many people have had to cut the box in order for it to fit. I also got lucky and fit mine right onto the stock intake hose without using a piece of pipe. Again a fairly frequent subject with alot of different results...

Rick- mine fit exactly like yours. That rub mark on your filter there? Cut out the shelf under the stock air box and no more rubbing. As I said (or should have said) it fit fine with the stock shelf under the lower airbox half in there, but now it fits even better and is not mashed against the hood. I have before pix, I'll snap some after pics tomorrow unless I get really motivated to get out and snap a photo.
Nolan- I used a pipe adapter for piece of mind- I want 0 chance of mine coming off like others have.

I cut mine too - Think it has to do w/ the angle of the air tube(how you pivot it).

Looks good Chase. I don't mind the hood touching the filter a little. Good job.

Such things happen when you drive in the dust. It's not a show queen!

i cut out the stock box completely. i like the extra room it created. easier access to the boots and removal of IC pipe to paint or touch up as needed. i still haven't gotten a cover from Pete. help me out. i can't decide on a color or design. here's mine with stock box removed.

I went with red. I think it would look good with your pipes.
