ebay e4od rebuild kit
my e40d ,blew the front seal, 5 weeks ago, and not knowing enough about what i am doing,
tryed to just replace the seal, that didn't work.
trans pull again.
found out i had to replace the pump bushing , (leaked) again
got a differant seal ( blue ) that did'nt work, leaking again
trans pull again T ( thats 4)
brought the trans to a shop were they replaced rings and cluches just behind the pump, that aint working either now the tc & trans are rumbling
enough is enough
trans shop wants 2500 to put in new trans, i have had this thing in & out so many times i'm to the point were i can have it out in two hours, & back in In an other two hours,
here is my question.
i have desided to pull it again & rebuild it with a new tc too. there are several rebuild kits on ebay to choose from--witch one
i'v read that, the unfortuneate part is the more i read, the more i want to ,do- it
granted i'v never done this before, but i'm not working so 2500 is out
i have the time, but funds are low , i'm not trying to make a monster, i'm the guy in the slow lane doing 65( i'm in jersey if you aint doing 85, move over)
there are rebuild kits $179-$189-$239-$599
the tc one of the members here says he has 30 trucks on the road, he got the one off ebay for $179 heavy duty been working fine for him!
i don't haul logs up the rockies, the most i haul is 4 harleys to daytona,
witch one has the bearing,i read about that is an upgrade?
Be warned that a master kit will still not include things like bushings, torrington bearings or other hard parts that may or may not need replacing. Opening it up is unfortunately the only real way to be sure of what's needed although if you're going through it anyway, I'd replace them all.
in the search box of the computer( not this forum) i have bing
some one has made a pictorial, of a rebuild
,he did a real nice job showing step by step
i'm going to try to print them out, i don't know if i can

Improved (thicker) converter clutch piston (circa 1994), prevents the formation of cracks which relieve fluid pressure from the apply side of the clutch, causing it to slip and even bluing the outside surface of the torque converter in extreme cases. Ensure that your new converter contains an updated OEM or "LuK" brand heavy-duty clutch. This can be difficult, as many torque converter suppliers and remanufacturers may not use this new style of clutch.
Higher displacement front pump (for 1995) provides more fluid capacity for faster engagement of reverse and greater lube flow.
New (for 1994) 4-pinion overdrive planet and input shaft assemblies replace older 3 and 4 pinion units which tend to develop cracks in the carrier under heavy loads.
Center support update kit (for units built from 1989 through part of 1994) replaces wear-prone bushing with a ball bearing and contains a new overdrive stub shaft.
Stronger overdrive clutch cylinder snap ring which will not dislodge.
Revised sun gear and rear case bushings (circa 1992 model year) provide longer wear life and better lubrication.
