I am looking for an exhaust system to lower my EGT while towing. Also I would like it to be about the same noise level as the stock unit. Any sugestions? Thanks.
Denny
Denny, I just got the Banks 4" stainless from turbo back. Can't tell you about the sound because I haven't installed it yet. Its supposed to lower the EGT's and have a mellow growl to it. I think it was about $675.
Johnp034, I checked out Banks but according to their info they don't have a system for a diesel supercab. I sent them an e-mail and asked what the difference is. I think the trucks should be about the same as a CC. I am waiting for their reply.

Denny, the Banks Monster 4" "Fits standard-cab, long bed or extended cab short bed, longer wheelbase requires extension kits" My system was $639 + $40 for the short bed crewcab extension.
John thanks for the tip. I will have to see what my PSD does when towing the 5er. I am going to Kentucky this spring and figure they may offer a better deal at the rv rally. I know they will be there so maybe a show special.

Well darn it. the one thing that I know about and everyone jumps on it before I did.
Well like was stated already. they have extension kits mine was $30 for the super cab. and yes it is close to stock sounding. wich upseted me. I wanted it to be louder. ohh well.
If you want more flow, lower EGT's, and like saving money, you could always build your own system. I put on a Hypermax downpipe, ($130), bought a 10' section of 4" pipe, ($60), a 4" mandrel bent tailpipe for a Superduty through Advance Auto Parts, ($45), and ran it that way for a while. Later, I added a Donaldson muffler, ($70). Add in a few clamps, and an elbow for the tip, and you're in for about $350.
If you want it loud, leave out the muffler, and save $70.
Saw Quadzilla's post regarding low cost exhaust system. What caught my interest was his suggestion to leave out muffler. Does this in any way enhance or reduce power? Can this harm engine or system in any way? Thanx for the help.
Finally got my Banks 4" installed yesterday. Nice installation, no major change in sound, just a little more growl when I stand on it, which is usually all the time. Better throttle response, especially on the high end, like at 70mph, punch it and hang on. Yes, I'd recommend it.
A PSD does not need the muffler for backpreassure, so no there is no harm. Without a muffler you will hear a fluttering sound out of the exhaust. Kind of hard to explain the sound. It's basically the sounds a fan would make as the air hits a wall.
