I just bought a 2005 F-250. I am thinking about changing the exhuast system and putting a banks exhaust system on. Has anybody tried this? Is their anything better and is changing the exhaust system worth it.

Hmm, no answers. Maybe we should take this question over to the 7.3 forum and see what they have to say. (easy there 6.0ers, I know this guy.)
I wouldn't put exhuast on it unless your planning on running a box or a tuner. I'd say you only get about a 10-15hp increase nothing special. If your keeping the truck stock I wouldn't waste the time.
I just removed the muffler from my 05. It added a bit of extra sound, but not so much that you wouldn't think it was stock. I also run an SCMT, this seems to be a winning combination.

Well.... I don't run a tuner, and love the sound of my 4" turbo back exhaust. Other than the sound quality, there's a couple added benifits. With the larger down tube, turbo/EG temps In & Out are reduced all the time. Cool down time is cut in half, when I sit and idle (shutting the engine off after just exiting the highway). When towing a load, EGT's are also reduced by nearly 200 degrees.
When running just a cat back 4" system there was a nice improvement to the exhaust sound. But also a noticable seat of the pants improvement, not to mention a noticable change, moving the peak torque higher in the RPM band. And stronger there too.
Once I installed the rest of the 4" system, it actually quieted down a bit. And the torque peak move up another couple hundred RPM, but EGT's reduced a bit more.
Hmm?? 15hp? Could that be 30lbs of torque? Most of the vendors advertise an improvement of 40lbs of torque.
Mine: (Bullydog, Aluminized, 4", Turbo back, with CAT, Without Muffler. Easy on the ears, but throaty strong sound with performance improvements. -A bit better fuel economy too.)
Glad you got great results Steve. I barely if any noticed a increase in power, I'll just say not greatly noticable. Temps stayed the same for me except at WOT it came down faster, but with stock programming it doesn't get that hot to me. Sound was better but I didn't get a mileage increase, or any noticable power increase. Although its cool to have 4" turbo back exhaust I would call it a necessary mod for stock tuned trucks.
Orezona I have the MBPR turbo back. I run a CAT delete pipe and it sounds great.
Don't get me wrong its a decent mod but its not a huge increase ppl dream of IMO.
Recently installed the MBRP turbo-back system. The results are about the same as with my previous truck, an '01 7.3. No other mods at all. I tow a lot (landscape trailer and travel trailer). When I'm on the open highway towing, she feels as if there's no stopping her. 70-75 mph, about 15,000 lbs., and it doesn't even breath hard. The only drawback: I really do think that immediate throttle response without a load is slower than with the stock system. Both trucks did this. Maybe a diesel does like a little back pressure sometimes.
I run straight pipes on mine and the truck loves it! I get much better gas mileage and the sound is great. Alot of turbo whisle and rumble underneath. I put a 6" cap from my old Peterbuilt and the sound just resonates there.
Best thing is it cost me 30 bucks as I did all of the work myself and bought the 3" exhaust pipes from a buddy at an auto shop.
Take a moment and consider the MBRP systems, they allow you to keep your cat totally stock so if you have a un fun dealer they won't beat you up about warranty, plus you can get the optional cat test pipe if you off road and or race your truck some day. Plus the MBRP is available in aluminized, 409 and 304 stainless, so you can get the material thats right for your use. Finally the MBRP will save you a considerable amount of money so you can egt other mods if you want with the extra money.
You shoudl see lower EGT's, better MPG and a quicker spooling up turbo even on a stock truck, it is worth it especially of you tow. Call us we are MBRP's largest distributor in the USA and will be glad to help you with any questions you might have.
From what I've heard, The Bank's system is just a Magnaflow system with the Bank's name (and price) stamped on it. They sure look alike.
Nowhere close to even being the same. For starters the Banks system uses a 3.5" insulated downpipe with a silencer in it and the Magna-Flow uses a full 4" downpipe.
