New exhaust system

I am ready to pull the trigger on a new exhaust system for my 95 with auto. What is the best system to buy for the money?

I bought the 4" mbrp system and am not that impressed. I really wish I would have done stacks instead

willbd,

Check the AFE and MBRP systems, the AFE are in the same price range and fit exceptionally well. We stock them all and will be glad to help you on questions, one thing you might not like about the pinnacle is it uses a hollw core muffler that does have some restriction and it sounds louder too. Both MBRP and AFE use a muffler packed with high temp ceramic wool that sounds good under full throttle but doesn't drone.

I bought the MBRP and, like otpracer100, was far from impressed.
It was not a "bolt-in" installation. The hangers didn't line up and I had great difficulty getting past the tranny support.

I spent 12 hours on it and finally took it to my exhaust man to finish. Maybe I did something wrong, but I don't know how I could have done it different to make the hangers line up. I mean, they weren't even close!
If I did something wrong, I'd gladly admit it, but I followed the sketchy instructions as best I could and no matter how I arranged things, the hangers required being cut off and welded elsewhere.
If I'd have known it was going to be so much trouble, I would have just paid my exhaust man to install it from the get-go and saved myself the better part of a Sunday being frustrated.
Just one man's experience, however. others may have had better fortune than I.

I just got done with installing my kit i got from dale at tymar performance, and i am very happy. The stainless 304 3-4 inch downpipe is awsome and the 4 inch exhaust really lets the turbo sing. Installation wasnt that bad with the kit i got, but the hangers were a little different. You can really tell how much better it breaths. The toughest time i had was gettting that old downpipe off. Dale is super helpful, he spent 30 minutes on the phone seeing who's shipping was less between ups, fedex and dhl. Hell he only saved me a dollar, but the effort was impressive.

made my own from 4.5" conduit a friend gave me. went to a local j-yard and found a 5" elbow off a peterbuilt for $10. i havent looked back and it cost me $105 for the tymar downpipe and the elbow. cut the hangers off my old exhaust and welded them in place to fit like factory! looks slick and is true straight pipe

o didnt take me near 12 hours! started about 7pm and finished in time to make the 9:55 movie with my girl

It's installed

Matt you are right about removing the old down pipe....

Had to use a porta power to make room for the new down pipe.

Bryan @ Diesel Power products was great to work with.

The Diamond Eye system installed in about 1 hour.

finding exhaust pipe plus intake question

If I'm lookin to fabricate my own straight pipe (elminating the cat and muffler), any ideas as to where to find some cheap 4 or 5inch OD pipe? McMaster-Carr and other such material suppliers have the stuff but it aint cheap at all...

Also, are the stock Ford intake air cleaners known to be restrictive? Is it a no brainer to take out the intake box and replace it with a less constrictive filter (if that is in fact the case)?
