That is a cool site, all about idi's. My guess is that 700 is the dry weight without accessories. Although admitedly lighter than ours no doubt. Even still, a fully dressed and filled 460 weighs around 720 ballpark. It is the heaviest of the V-8 engines BBC 680 440 is 620, even the hemi was only 700lbs. So just keep that in mind when you go to do the swap the diesels are roughly twice the weight of a big block gasser, and three times the weight of a small block. The 3.0 and 4.0 V6 offered in rangers is supposed to weight 400lbs dressed with electronics.
The Isuzu 4 banger was in NPR trucks as a mechanical injected, direct injection from '86-'91 with a wastegated turbo and some even had exhaust brakes. These are BY FAR the most desireable for swapping because.............................
the '92-'97 was computer controlled, was INDIRECT injected and had a non-wastegated turbo but did have an oil cooler. The later motors are also supposedlly more likely to crack heads.
BTW the early one is a 4BD1T and logically enough the latter is the 4BD2T. There were rarer 6 cylinder versions also but I see little need for them when the Cummins 6BT is so readily available cheaply and is a known quantitiy.
Isuzu also used many Chevy V-8 "petrol" engines as well from the 350 to the 6.0L.
