Check out fourbtswap.com (I think that is it) Several guys over there have used and like the late model vw diesel, It is light and makes enough power for small rigs.
Hey guys..I am so convinced on reliability of the 6.9 that I finally got one of my own after using and workin on 3 of these Beasts. All in the 83-86 year range. Well the one I have now was not totally used up . 84 f250 4x4 4speed. Butt...I bought cheap from friend. Was their wood truck and looke like something outta Mad Max, but ran strong and the infrastructure was sound. Almost like a good truck now after TLC..injectors R/R all but #7. Very stuck copper gasket in bore..looks fried to wall. Yes the whole works was a black cake from who knows how long the thing shot diese out the back. Tryin to dig W picks. Don't want to scarf up the seat. Any ideas?
For the stuck washer take a drill bit 1/64th larger the the washer hole, twist it in by hand until it stops give it a light tap and it should pull out (this is how i got mine out). Then the bore can bet cleaned with brake cleaner and a gun cleaning rod/w a 12ga bore brush chucked in a drill.

Alll-riight.. That was one idea I was pondering. It should act like an extractor tool and cost less too. Long's it won't put shrapnel down the hole. You ever hear about using 3/8 x 24 allthread? Kinda same idea as the drill bit. All I know is I a good job is worth the time and brain pickin to do it right.
So Ford makes a deal with International Harvester to buy their engines for their pickups, and that makes it ok to use? That doesn't make much sense. I would get a Cummins 4BT and swap it in a f150. If you get a 4BT that was in a Ford chassis bread truck, it should bolt right in a f150 that originally had a 300 six.
Ok...that sounds real workable. Will try. Oh btw I am sorry if it looks like I jacked this thread. Still getting used to how these forums work. Next time I promise to start my own thread.
In Ontario it is hard for me personally to find a 4bt in an automotive application also ford made bread vans ? That sounds far more workable and are we talking like bolt in to a 94 f150 cause I have one with an straight 6 also did these bread vans come with a manual or automatic, I will not buy a or ever use an automatic tranny ever
If j was to source q bread van 4bt is their a site to buying them and a specific search I can do
Also I am a member long ago on 4bt swaps.com
And I like IH harvester but seems my best route is f150 4bt
But I do love cummins that's for sure
And no u did not hijack I just wanted to be greedy no harm done bro
the problem with the 4bt it your local auto parts dont have **** for them
and the chevy motor are not good they dont last long but you can fine them cheap
Depends what parts you need, but the 4BT is also used in a lot of industrial applications such as excavators and skid steers. Other than belts, filters and the like, what else does one need on a regular basis anyway?
I love the 4BT but in Ontario they are not easy to find.. Also I agree the chevy do not last long and the more I research I think the full weight of the 6.9 would crush the whole front end like an anvil so what's the replacement plan guys
