looking to purchase an exhaust for my 97 PSD. looking for opinions, experiences, etc. I think im leaning towards an MBRP aluminized. I want 4", turbo back. NO STACKS. My truck has no other mods. Want that awesome 7.3 growlll . Thanks guys!
I went with diamond eye 3 inch dp to a 5 inch back with muff no cat, I thought about stainless but figured it wasn't worth the money, a buddy of mine had stainless and it still got surface rust... So why spend the money?? That Was my thought anyways... I hear mbrp is good but my diamond eye gave me no problems on install and still no problems!! Good luck to you, anything you do to get rid of that stock dp is a good thing!!!
Diamond Eye has great prices and seem to be just as good as any other exhaust out there. I have a 3" downpipe from them and it's worked out great. Want to get a full length 5" from them also.
Riffraff Diesel has good deals on Diamond Eye stuff, check them out...
I got my from Tymar Performance . Good price and good product. I got a 3" to 3.5 " then opening to 4" ceramic coated down pipe. Fit like a glove, very little firewall work. Dale is a great guy to work with also.
Good stuff. Thanks alot. Any problems or tips for install with the downpipe?
Also, does anyone know the difference between the two 4" MBRP alum. options on riff raffs site other than one includes a 5" tip?
I have seen lots of advise on how to "masage" the fire wall. I screwed around with hammers and wood blocks and busted knuckles for a couple of hours with no real progress. My uncle (a great american farmer) took a look at it, got the sawsall, cut the pinch weld on either side of where the down pipe would be, hit it twice with a hammer and we were done.
That's the difference between experience vs. non experience. (I learn everday though.)
Good sawzall, good long blades, cut the pinch seam and fold it down once the old pipe is out. You'll need to cut the top "head" off the stock pipe, and also cut it as far up from the bottom as you can for easy removal.
For the new pipe you put the top half in from the top, bottom half up from the bottom. And I highly reccommend getting a flat stainless band-style clamp for the middle of the downpipe instead of a u-bolt style clamp. It fits a lot better.
