My 1999 f250 has a 5.4l when I am going up a steep hill or towing my truck seems to loose power between 2200-2600 rpm in third gear it's an automatic I did an trans service replaced two coil packs and the EGR sensor the truck has 153000 miles I just bought it in may and did the intake gasket put new plugs in. put it on the dealer computer and can't find anything wrong anybody have any ideas?
When it down shifts does it scream? Or does it downshift? These engines don't have much power unless they shift down and get the r's up. Esp a 99. If you go up a hill in 2nd gear if you floor it will it go to 5k rpm quickly? If not you may have clogged fuel filter or bad pump..
It shifts ok just when your on the gas it feels like it has a lot of power then no power then lots of power and the cycle keeps repeating until it hits 2800 rpm
Don't really know. Only in the 99's and maybe there is a cut off date..They stopped putting it in there in 2000. I guess it wasn't such a good idea..Supposed to help with low rpm power and at a certain rpm open up the whole intake to the engine. Maybe its not hooked up?
