I saw the word engine on the dashboard so that’s a start but I saw another word can’t really tell what it says but it says low could that be low range or low fuel??

I would change all the bulbs while I was in behind there.
Not in my experience. I had a 1990 and it had it. My 1991 did not have it. Both were bought new by me (1990) or my BIL (1991) so I know where they've been. Has yours perhaps been swapped out sometime in it's life?

As far as I know it hasn’t it has a 302 with a E4OD but if it’s low range related I thought that those are for 4x4 and mine is 2wd

Maybe we are talking about different things. What I am saying is that 87-90 have the little module on the back of the instrument cluster that makes the "Engine" light operate. 1991 has a place on the cluster for the light, but does not have the module to operate it. If you are just saying you can see "Engine" on the front of your cluster, they all have that. Yours, however, would not illuminate with the key on is my contention, unless the cluster has been swapped with an earlier model.
All of the clusters have the "4x4" and "Low Range" indicators as well, but 2wd has no bulbs in the sockets.

You’re correct mine doesn’t have the bulbs to light up the 4x4 and low range but I’m going to replace the bulb for the Engine light which it should work because it might have worked in the past the owner just didn’t fix it

I replaced the bulb and it’s not working but it did in the past because it was burnt out so I might need to get another module
