Do you think changing the trans fluid over 75,000 miles and only replenshing 24 quarts of new fluid is stretching it? I think the trans holds 17 quarts, so if you only replace 8 quarts every 25,000 miles it comes to 1/2 replacement. Ford calls for a complete change every 30,000 miles. I know several posters that do the 8 quart change every 10,000 and a few every 15,000. Just curious to know if running the 8 quart change's for 25,000 is over taxing the fluids ability to work.

i dont think so.Its near 190K on the same trans all the miles ive driven myself.been changing out the pan fluid every 25k since i bought it in june of 03.and i tow ALOT of miles and i Tow almost 17,000LBS the truck weighs almost 8800lbs so combined just under 26,000LBS.I think i maintain my truck very well.
Stock original injectors
Original headgaskets and headbolts
Alot of guys own one of these trucks cuz they wanted one and didnt need one.Dont tow and if they do its a jet ski or something a 1/2 ton gas truck could do.
If you wanna change your fluid every 10K knock yourself out.Iam just saying what has worked for me.
If your working your truck daily towing a backhoe or what not. pulling more than you really should then that maybe in your best interest to change at 10-15K.
If your towing a boat 3 times a year 20 miles.Go 50K iam sure youll be fine.

And those Maintenance intervals are writen for people that use the truck for a purpose not for the pleasure of owning one.

In your diesel owners guide supplement it also says to "change engine coolant" at 105,000 Ford does not use the word "complete" or "flush" but only a jackass would think otherwise.

Even though most consider English more convoluted than other languages, the maintenance guide is written in short simple sentences for simple people however tall they may be.
My Ford Owner's Manual has no instructions for determining the height of a jackass.
When you change your oil do you tear down the engine to get the oil from the oil galleys crankshaft and the hpop
Aw, why did you have to write that? Now he won't be able to sleep reliving all those incorrectly done oil changes.
Next time I add air to my tires, I will jack up the truck and vent all the old air out and refill with 100% new air. I've installed two bypass HEPA filters on my compressor after reading on the internet that air over nine months old accelerates rubber degradation by 32%. I don't understand why Ford didn't put that in the maintenance guide!
When you change your oil do you tear down the engine to get the oil from the oil galleys crankshaft and the hpop
A significant difference: you change a higher percentage of the oil in the system w/ a simple drain (14 or 15 quarts out of 18) vs what you do w/ the transmission (7-8 quarts out of 18). Again - quite a difference in percentage. Anyway, it is all about what works best and when it comes to transmissions, I would think a true test is at least 300k miles.
Glad you have had 190k miles w/ no issues, but I think it is premature to imply that there is little-to-no benefit to more frequent (or more volumetric) changes.
