I was helping someone jump there car off today and I let the guy hook his dead car up. then I hooked my side up. The battery terminals began to smoke. The cables stayed connected for about 5 seconds and neither vehicle was started at the time. After we switched the cable around, both vehicles were able to start. None of my MIL are on and all the headlights and things work. Do I have anything to worry about resulting from this? Thanks for any and all input!

If I jump someone's vehicle, I always do the connection so I know for sure that the connection will be correct. Hopefully you didn't blow any fusible links, but it sounds like you're OK.
Crossed connections.
Your truck is probably fine but your battery took a massive drain.
Take your truck to a parts store and have the alternator output checked.
Only one person should do the connecting.
ALWAYS CHECK THE BATTERIES FOR THE TERMINAL MARKINGS + AND -.
DO NOT TRUST ANY RED OR BLACK COLORING.
