So I finally got around to washing the truck and I couldn't believe what I was seeing. On the bottom of the drivers side door I saw a discolored spot. I didn't notice it until I was drying it off. It looks like someone buffed it a little too much (and yes, there is a definite paint defect to the right of the discolored spot). I know its a truck, but a with a $41K sticker price it really bothers me. Do you think it would be a waist of time going back to the dealer about it?
Well I am going to take my truck to get the trailer brake controller programmed at my local dealer...then I am going to go down to the dealer I bought it from. I am not so worried about the time, but how it will look after it is fixed. I am afraid if they paint the whole door that it won't match.

I was told by an estimator that the tech needs 8" to feather the repair then clear coat the whole tailgate. I'm thinking the same for the door, easy to feather in and clear coat the whole door.
I would take it back. I'm very picky about my vehicles, especially when you're paying over 40k for it. You can buy a 3 series BMW, or a Caddy CTS for 40+ so even though it's a truck, I'd want it fixed. JMO.
Took it to the dealer and they are going to have it repainted. Unfortunately, this dealer outsources painting. So I had to take it to them to get a quote...which was $500. The dealer was apologetic and said they would take care of it.
I've seen some dealers do really nice paint work, especially on a new truck. Had my daughters hood redone by the dealer and the color is black, they matched the factory paint perfectly. Good luck with it.
I do paint for a living and it looks like that was a poor repair job in the photo.
You should look your vehicle over closely for any sheet metal repairs or other defects because it isn't uncommon for vehicles to get damaged in transport.
Thats exactly what the guy at the paint shop had said...looks like repair work, BUT there is no sign of filler or anything. It looks as though it was sanded smooth and cleared, but they forgot to paint it first. Beats the heck out of me, just as long as it gets fixed. I hope this isn't a sign of things to come.
