Having problems getting everything right on my 360. Was running good a few days ago, decided to replace plug wires and spark plugs. replaced them and now it runs fine in park/neutral, but when I put it in drive it hesitates and sounds like its missing. I tuned the carb, made sure the idle mixture screws and float levels were good, checked timing, no apparent vacuum leaks. tried putting old wires back on. nothing seems to help. But the fact that it is running good in park is weird. especially cause it was running fine before. could it be spark plug gap? still though running fine in park doesnt make sense, would appreciate any help.
Alright so i pulled the plugs to check the gap, cylinders 7's plug was nearly touching, and cylinder 8 plug was touching!! could this have come from the factory like this, I didn't check the gap when i put them in. Or could my engine be doing something to close the gap? just wondering if i can pawn it off as a factory error or if i need to look into some other problem. after i set the correct gap problem went away for now. going to get some sleep and ill road test it tomorrow. If anyone knows why a spark plugs gap could be drastically changed by the engine please let me know.
