Nice colors, beige/tan walls with white trim looks great together!
What you need to do is take your time masking off the wood floor, make sure you keep the edge of the masking tape on the baseboard by a 1/16th inch or so. if you have trouble doing that, you can use latex caulk to seal the edge of the masking tape.(your finger works best for this, put a nugget of caulking on a paper plate and work off of that. Caulking guns are hard to controll sometimes), this will stop the paint from bleading under the tape. and last tip would be to use a dry brush, wipe the paint off the sides of the brush, after your done pull the tape while the last coat of paint is still kinda soft. Blue 3M tape is the best.
if you have any other questions just ask... Sherwin Williams paint is okay stuff but none of them will cover with one coat unless you painting over the same color and the same sheen.
Hey there Bill,
Thanks for the heads up. I admit that I was hoping that the paint with the primer in it would cover the prior color so that I didn't have to do each room twice. I was already dreading doing each room once. LOL A couple of the rooms we did prime with Kilz 2 because we knew the colors were way too dark and would bleed through for sure. That worked great and then I was able to coat the room with just one coat of beige.
Yup, the 3M blue tape is what I always use, so that's good. How about baseboards on carpet? I have a couple of spots where I replaced the baseboards on carpet and need to paint those. How would you tape them off? Still tape to the bottom 16th of the baseboard and put the rest of the tape on the carpet itself?
Plus, I made a mistake. I'm using a Perdy 1 1/2" cut-in brush. Not a 2" cut-in brush. I wasn't looking at it when I wrote this but looked at it afterwards. LOL
Ya, I had to do some "edging" where my wife's ex transitioned one color to another color in a different room and the primer bled under the tape. I never did the caulking method, even though I've heard about it. I heard/read you should put a real thin layer on the edge of the tape. However, what I'm afraid of is that won't the edge not be straight depending on how much caulk you put on with your finger? You won't be able to put the caulk on perfectly on edge of the tape and isn't it supposed to overlap the tape and onto the wall? (the whole point of trying not to get the paint to bleed through) Or is it such a thin layer of caulk that you actually paint over it and when you pull the tape off that it cuts the caulk (the tape does) in a straight line anyway?
Anyway, thanks again for the tips. I'm planning on doing this in a couple of days. At least the walls look great so far. I'm just paranoid of anyone touching them or marking them up until the house is sold. You should see me running around telling everyone to keep everything away and to keep their greedy lil paws off the walls. LOL!!!!
Hey Mat, i guess i did not make myself clear, use a very thin layer of caulking on the tape edge and wipe off any excess caulking with a damp rag. you just want to seal the edge of the tape to prevent bleed through. the carpet along baseboards, run the tape up the base 3/8 of an inch or so,(more or less depending on how plush the carpet is or is not) then pull it away and tuck it in with your fingers. a 1.5 inch sash brush will be fine for painting the baseboards.
Tuesday has been good for me. I was making glass pendants, down in Carson at the Brewery Arts Center. Great people good weather and I made some good progress.
Hope everyone is well and happy.
Good luck with your bowling Luke. Are you one a team? Or just playing for fun?
Good morning all my favorite people!
Its Mid week already, do you know where your weekend is?
Thats RIGHT.......its right around the corner!
Have a wonderful day!
This week has been HELL!!!
From marriage issues, someone trying to kill my horse & last minute stuff to do at my rental house...this week sucks!!!
Hope everyone is having a better week than I am.
During the summer I bowl on one league with my wife. Winter time is different...More like two or three leagues per week.
Which is why I need to get/fix my truck. Last winter I missed 2 weeks due to not being able to get anywhere...Shouldn't have lowered my Mazda!
67 Olfthfl: And this is why I tried to just skip today...Didn't work so well for me.
Luke,
I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one having a bad day/week!
I'm on my 3rd marriage & it's my hubbys 1st, so I've been through all this sh** before. I swear...if this marriage doesn't work - I'm giving up on men! I'll go find me a hot, sexy woman. LOL!

First few days back from Vacation are never good for me. Takes me until Friday to get caught up and in the swing again.
I'm on my 1st marriage and my wife's 1st also. I figure if this one falls apart I'm done. Besides, with two kids under the age of 6 I can't afford to not make it work!
