I had about $750 stolen from me this week. I'm not sittin' too happy in the bank.

As you are probably aware, I own a hauling business. One thing we do is free metal pick up, and we scrap it. We were contacted by a company called Custom Merchandise Displays and they had just replaced the check stand racks (candy, gum etc racks at the registers) at all the Vons in Ventura County. They wanted us to pick them up and haul them away for them. They were owned by CMD, not Vons. Vons simply pays CMD for the shelves, sort of like a lease. They were in the loading dock areas of all the Vons and they needed to be gone ASAP.

Of the 13 stores I was responsible for, 3 had shelves when I got there. The rest were stolen by illegitimate people. My guess is the scrap scavengers. Parking lots are PRIVATE PROPERTY and removing anything from a parking lot with out permission is theft. I am the only one who held the work orders to pick them up.

It pisses me off because I do everything right. I pay business licence tax, insurance, and go through the proper channels, and these other guys come along and steal my work. And work=money.

Albeit the money wasnt pulled out of my wallet, but it might as well have been.

I just wrote a huge paragraph and deleted it. Going off on how good people are sticking to the rules and getting screwed.
Instead I'm just gonna say that I feel you bro'

 

Thanks. All I can do is move ahead. I talked to CMD and they will continue to use me and I now know what I need to do. I will get steel cable and pad lock the racks until I get them.

 

That is the stink of it. You do an honest days work, and some low life piece of Yit robs you blind.

 

I'm embracing that philosophy this week too!

 

Good to hear they're at least going to continue to offer you the work.


On a somewhat different note - was wondering if you guys had any opinion on names. Can't quite tell if she's going to be a little redhead... or a strawberry blonde... but we're down to Jessica, Jennifer or Taylor. (I'm leaning towards the latter... but wouldn't mind some helpful input.) Anyone know how to create a poll?

(I'll post a pic the first time she's strapped into her car seat... or when I get the digital camera unloaded... whichever comes first.)

Taylor is nice. With the current popularity of the teenage singer Taylor Swift, I'll bet there will be a nice crop of babies named Taylor. I don't know if you consider that a +/-. Any of those 3 choices are good IMO.
