Air Pump/ Catalytic conv.
Question: I have a 94 Ford F150 V8 351 vin. code 'H'...I have a air pump under the alternator, hoses go to and from a canister on the fender and then run along the exhaust manifold around the back of the heads and bolt to the heads themselves. there are NO tubes that go to the catalytic convertors, so can someone explain in detail and be technical please!.. how this system works and am I able to remove this system and the catalytic convertors (appears to be two convertors) without any problem to the EEC IV system?? thanks

If you follow the hoses off the air pump, one comes FROM the canister on the wheelwell (the filter) and one goes TO the plastic diverter/bypass valve beside the R exhaust manifold. From there, you might have one coming BACK to the wheelwell to a small exhaust muffler, but you should have one going to the crossover on the back of the heads and another to the cats. The Haynes manual explains the whole system very thoroughly, so that's where to find out more about it.
