Yep, the modern aluminium cans are shockingly thin, we have lots of trouble with them chafing through in the car fridges when travelling, especially off-road.

But they are an excellent source of shim material!

I left several over night in a copper tub with ice on them. Next morning I had sticky gooey stuff on the walls - electrolysis had eaten holes in several of the cans due to the galvanic current caused by dissimilar metals in the presence of water. Over night!
