2003 V10 transmission is not engaging in FWD or REV for 15 seconds.
Then it "chuggs" really bad before it takes off.
Spent a week in sand at OBX, came home and power washed the top and bottom.
Fluid is new. Level reading is odd. Show overfill or bone dry....
It should be perfect level from fluid change.
Someone said Throttle Position Sensor may be wet or bad.
I need help. Have to get back on the road in 3 days for family trip.
Suggestions?
When I changed the fluid on mine it was really hard to tell that I was about 3 quarts low of fluid. I was getting delayed shifts until I added more fluid. If you are not getting anything on the dip stick it is low. I have found that it takes a long time to clear out the dip tube after adding fluid before you get an accurate reading. If you add a quart and check it right away you will aways get fluid on the dipstick. Best time to check it is when it is hot and up to temp like Mark just said above. I would add a quart then drive it for a while gently and then check it again.
Pulled both sensor on the tranny. Had water and sand in one. Pretty wet in the other. Cleaned with air and treated. Pull back in. That caused check engine light to come on. Pulled codes. No codes. Idle was rough and dead miss under load or going up hills. Changed all spark plugs. Found one with rust. Running WHOLE lot better. Still slight miss. Tranny reading is all over the place. Reads over full after adding any amount. Have to drive and run around for hour or so to get reading. Which was low amount. Adding 1/2 qt at a time.....tranny is working but reading low still. THANKS ALL!
