they inject fluid in the exhaust to burn all the "harmful" particulates out of it.first pass up the hill in my truck with 2k in the bed yielded ect200-eot205.hit the bottom and they both cooled perfect,ect191 eot196.coming home it eot would fluctuate between 196-197,ect being 191.almost got home and the eot stuck on 199,no more fluctuation.ran the hill again and got ect 200 eot 209,at the bottom the ect went down to 191 but the eot didnt follow.gonna flush again and price a new radiator.benny,do a search on the latest urea inj diesels, pretty interesting stuff.
Went from 5-6* spread to a 13-18* in a matter of miles.once the eot gets to 209 it doesn't come down, unless I stop or floor it and get circulation through it.when its at 209 ect is 191.
Dont know which one, came complete wit the top on.worked awesome on my first pass, better than it did when I first put it on.but I could see it plugging on on my gauge.ill drain and backflush the cooler again and then flush with distilled.
Just concerns me that eot would go from 196 to 204-210 and not come down.ill try to post a pic of what I'm getting out of the radiator.its strange,ya know how when you watch your gauges, and something changes, you just know somethings up.
Unless you run at a fixed speed on the highway for a while, the oil temp will tend to be slightly above the water temp. Each cooler has some efficiency loss, so EOT will read a little over ECT. The main thing, is to ensure when under load for a while they don't get too far apart. We hauled our JD tractor up the mountain last weekend on my dad's gooseneck trailer, tractor and trailer combo is about 14k. Pulling up the mountain for about 5 miles, I monitored temps with AE and EOT was consistently 20F above ECT. I don't like 20 degrees separation, but given the heat load, that's not bad.
I know what ya mean steel a oil cooler thats 3 weeks old should have better numbers than that
when I look into my old oil cooler theres like a powder coating on the coolant side dont now if its the same or what
I didnt see any flakes when I flushed stuff out
I don't know if that'll help any more cartmanea.it never stop coming out of it,no matter how much I flush it.I flushed only the rad yesterday and it never came clean.ran vc9, had temp spread of constant 5*, then it went up.got home and flushed the block.the vc9 water came out clean, until I got to the radiator.flushed it for another 2 hours and the pic is what I got out of it everytime.and that's after 24 flushes!.least I know the block is clean.
