I'm sorry - I come from the sticks. Nobody locks anything. What does this mean? Do they punch in the entire locking mechanism or the actual hole where the key went? Anyone have a picture? I'm just curious.
Go to the Jimmy Jammer website (see my previous post for the link). It has pictures of the punched lock.
Yes if they want to get in then they will however I feel that if they are running around a parking lot and my truck gives them a little hastle then they will move on and it obviously has worked... Not to say NEVER but I have yet to have a power door lock actuator fail in god knows how many vehicals I have owned.. If it does I will make a call.. Mean time I know someone cannot punch my lock and if they want to get in then they will have to try harder which usually means more time and in turn will make them turn to the next truck.. JMO..
Completely agree. If 2 F-150s are in a parking lot and one has a key lock and one doesn't the one with the lock is getting broken into first. The idea of removing the key lock from the handle is NOT to prevent someone from getting in (they can still break the window), it is to prevent someone from punching the lock and having to replace the handle AND lock everytime it happens. THIS IS NOT CHEAP! Call your local dealership and get a quote.
The dead battery and accuator failing chances are slim (Fords ARE BUILT TOUGH)... but if it happens you call your well trusted locksmith (I'm fortunate to have one) to get you in. Its 1/4 the price of a new handle and lock if someone punches it.
Why would you want to get rid of you keypad options? Removing the key option would be a great idea as they wont be able to break into the same way as you can remove the tumbler rod. I was broken into the same way and i found a guy in ebay that sell the keypad handles with No keyhole, perfect solution.
