Door handle?

Door handle?
'99 electric door locks. The drivers side spring is either broken or came off somewhere, the outside handle flops. Sometimes the key or fob won't open the door I have to get in the passenger's side and use the inside handle to unlock the door. What's the problem and how do I repair it? Thanks

well uts simple really, get the metal replacement handles from a reputable company, I know the company I used but they arnt a vendor, remove door panel disconnect connecting rod to the loch mechanism and drill out rivets from the outside, now once this is done you have two options for mounting, river it back as I did(less chance of coming loose) or bolt it in, now you have to have just enough slack on the clip when you put the rod back in after the handle is replaced, the little lever that the handle connects to has to be in the up position for the lock to fully unlock, if you have more questions message me for my number and I’ll walk you through it all

Thanks Ravenwood. Many years ago, when I lived in So Cal, I used to hunt up your way for doves and ground squirrels. I can get the handle but it's black and my truck is wine colored. Is it possible to remove the springs from the new unit and install them on the red one? Alex
