Van Turbo in an OBS?

What's the difference between the van turbo and the stock turbo on our trucks? What is needed to do the swap? Anybody know whether a turbo off a 2001 E series will work?

It would be like converting to Super Duty setup. Mucho work. Some Super Duty guys use the van turbos. I can't remember why off the top of my head.

That's what I thought. Just saw one for sale for cheap so I figured it was worth asking.
Thanks!

The van turbo is the same turbo we have on our trucks. The SD guys do it as an upgrade from their factory one.
There is no benefit for us to convert to SD other than the use of a Garret 38R as a direct bolt on upgrade turbo.

So this van turbo would be the same as my turbo then? Is it a direct replacement? Or is the Van turbo in fact the 38R?

No. The van turbo is our stock turbo but with SD connections.
Ford used our turbo a bit longer on the vans than they did on the trucks.

If you have a d66, keep it. If you want a 38R swap everything over to SD stuff. I would stay away from the 38R and go with a different turbo setup. Either d66 or H2e depending on your price range and mods.

See that's what I thought. Ok, I listed it in the 99.5-04 section in case anyone wants it. $200 isn't a bad deal IMO.

No, I mistakenly typed that and saw it after the fact. I just have a stock turbo. The one I saw listed was just listed as a van turbo. I wasn't sure what it was. Sorry for the confusion.
