I am thinking about buying an engine programmer and am looking for suggestions on what to get. One thing I am trying to get rid of is a hesitation when I step on the gas to accelerate to pass. Other than that maybe a few more mpg.
2004 F-150 FX4, 62000 miles
Gibson cat back exhaust
K&N cold air intake
the rest is stock
I got the SCT X3 from Mike at 5 star tunning. I love this thing. It has 3 custom tunes One is 87 octane Economy then 91 octane Performance and 91 octane Tow. Let me tell you they all make a difference. I leave it on 91 Performance. I love the way the truck moves with that.

Check out Powerhungryperformance.com, the Gryphon is the tuner they sell for our trucks. I've researched it and this seems to be the best IMO. Go to each website and read up on all of them before you buy. The Gryphon is really similar to the Edge, but you can upgrade your tune over the internet if you decide to upgrade your truck in another area. As far as I know, the Gryphon is the only one that you can do that with, all the rest you have to send it back to them to get it re-programmed.

The SCT X3 can be done by computer program no need to send it anywhere just call 5 star and for a small fee they will send you a new tune that you load into the tuner from the Email simple.
Revisions to tunes from Mike Butler @ 5 Star are also free. I had him revise a shift point about 4 weeks after the custom tunes were built. Emailed him one morning, about 6 hours later the revised tune was in my email inbox.
