I am looking for a box and tailgate, looking for one close to Houston or surrounding area.
Alex
My box and tailgate is in knocked down ready for shipping condition and can be wrapped in cardboard, strapped and shipped from 58265 zip. You do the math on shipping and see if you want it. I have a front and rear fender and a pair of doors also.
Thanks, I found a bed in Victoria for $300 and picked it up last Saturday. It's a 42-47 bed, I have it stripped down and it has some surface rust only, no rust through anywhere. Has a few extra holes drilled in it for tie down hooks that I will fill. The bed rails on the sides are perfect with no bends. The front bed panel is bent but I have to get a narrow one anyway. I am going to use the side sub frame Rails and get new crossmembers.
Now just need to get a tailgate and driverside rear fender.
I have the front cab mounts now, I will get them installed this weekend and then mount the doors.
Also I need to install a recessed firewall. I have a local hardware store that's closing and bought a couple of wheelbarrow buckets that they had lost the other parts from for $13 each. So that will make a cheap firewall.
tHERE IS A 46-47 FORD F1 SITTING UNDER A TREE IN SPRING HILL FLORIDA ( i LIVE IN HUDSON,FLORIDA ABOUT 15 MILES NORTH OF THERE ) IT HAS BEEN SITTING THERE FOR AT LEAST 3 YRS NOW.i JUST THOUGHT THAT SOMEONE MIGHT BE INTRESTED IN IT. Bob
Wescott's frame dimensions shows 2 holes in the frame near the front of the X-member.. one is at 17 1/4" from the axle center mount, the other is 2 1/2" behind it...
One of these is for the front cab mount.... which on is it?
I've got "parts" and am going to put a 40 pkup together, but not on a stock frame.. want the front wheels to align properly within the front fenders... don't want to Guess...
Those holes are both correct, one is for placement of the radiator support in the 6-cyl position and one is for the V8. The V8 holes are closer to the firewall. The inner fenders probably have holes in both positions. Not sure on the '40 if any other parts are different between 6 and 8.

I'm a tad confused with this response, as the holes I'm referring to are near the X-member forward attachment point to the frame...
Maybe the better way to ask would be " for a 1940 or 1941 Ford 1/2 ton pickup, what is the measurment from the centerline of the front axle to the forward cab mounting point (I believe it will be 17.5" or 19.75")...??"
Quick question on those motor mounts.....I'm removing the flathead from my '41 and installing a 302, Chassis Engineering said if I use their mounts (bolt ins) to the stock mounting position I would ave to cut the firewall a little for the Passenger side valve cover to clear. I'm now planning to weld in a set so I dont have to cut the firewall.
I really dont want to recess or cut the firewall at all, I think I'll have room to move the 302 forward, I run the stock radiator with a puller electric fan. Any input is appreciated.
I'm removing the Flathead, keeping the C-4
these pics are from the original build:
really dont want to cut the firewall as the folks who helped on the original build all signed the firewall.
