Air Conditioner Trouble

I noticed this morning that my AC was blowing out of my defrost, regardless of what the setting was on. It's still blowing cold, I just can't direct the flow out of the upper air vents. It was working fine yesterday. I changed my oil after I got home, so maybe I bumped something? Does anyone have any ideas of what it could be? Thanks in advance!!

You have a vacuum leak somewhere, or I think there is a vacuum pump on these trucks that may need to be replaced. I have not had to fix this on my truck so I can't help anymore than that. But other should help, or this will give you an idea on what to lookup to help you solve your problem.

Hmmmm. A vacuum leak hopefully is the issue. It will blow out of the upper air vents a little bit, but the majority is coming out of te defrost. I pulled the dash, unplugged the AC controls and plugged them back in. Now it's about half and half I'd say. :/

Check the vacuum line to the heater control valve...it's right next to the oil filler tube and it's real easy to knock it off when unscrewing the cap.

That's the Grey 1/8" hose correct? It runs right over my filler cap and I'm certain I hit it. Not sure if it came undone or not, but I'll Check!

I've had that happen a couple times. One time it was the heater control valve itself and the other time it was the electronic valve that actuates the front hubs. Both times they were leaking vacuum internally.

Is there a fix to those two problems without replacing parts?

To get you by until you can either re-seat that line or replace whatever part, I've had luck in the past with shutting the fan off, leaving it off for a sec, pushing the dash button to have the air come out of the vents, and then slowly raise the fan speed from off to low to medium, etc. This way, the heater control valve doesn't have as much air pressure to overcome when moving the internal damper.

It turned out that grey vacuum hose came unplugged! Thanks for the help guys! Nothing like sitting in a black truck in 100* with the defrost on haha.
