My 98 Limited started blowing hot air yesterday, even in Max AC. It even blows hot air out the defroster when the climate control is shut off. It started doing this 2 days ago, but I could still get sporadic cold air from Max AC, but now nothing. What could be the problem?
Check that also make sure the compressor is running, and that the pipe on top of the "coke can" like piece is cold, if not you are under charged on freon, but even if the blend door is set to hot and you have ac on it will still run the compressor
Hi jFrank
I have the same problem with my 98 Explorer Limited. I took it to the dealer as I thought, incorrectly, it was covered under my extended warranty. They cover the Servo but not the plenum. They want 1600 bucks to fix it! Do you have a less expensive solution for me that I can do myself? Thanks

Check the sticky at the top of the forum called 'Blend Door Fix'. It should get you taken care of...
Hello,
I have a problem with my heat not working at floor level only. Everything else works fine (A/C, etc.) 2003 F150 5.4 V8 42K. I've done just about all the trouble shooting I can with no luck. I saw the blend door fix and had some questions. Does anyone think the blend door is the problem? It is in a different location on my truck(just slightly right of dead center at the hump). I was able to see the actuator move as I switched from defrost to floor. However, it seemed to barely move at all, we're talking maybe an 1/8 of an inch at best. Is this normal or should it move more than that. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Yeah - I got the same problem on my 97EB. I had the blend door problem and did the full fix...new plenum & actuator. But I still have nothing blowing on my feet. I can stick my hand down there and feel it blowing under the console. It doesn't matter if it's heat or A/C, Automatic, Floor or anything. Just got no air blowing down there.
I'd be anxious for any hints if anyone knows what to do or has had this problem resolved in the past.
Is there a link to the blend door fix for 98 ford ranger? This thread is old that I found but it seems to have helped a lot of people. The link I tried is down(I think). Mechanic told me blend door is bad and 8-10 hours labor to get the whole dash and blend door assembly out plus cost of parts. I need to do this myself.
