TS chip shifting problem
I have noticed that I am having problems with the overdrive with the canned tunes from TS. I have the stock 50, 75, and 100 on the chip. In stock and 100 it will shift into overdrive at 40 mph when I back off the throttle. In the 50 and 75 settings it holds in third and revs at about 1900 RPM at 40 mph. It will shift into overdrive at about 2200 rpm (52mph) and stay in overdrive when I slow down.
Is this normal? Will this hurt my tranny? Is there anyone in Utah that can put some custom tunes on or check my canned ones? I just got off the phone with TS and the chip matches the computer code TDE1 so they want it back check the tunes.
If I send it it will not be back when I have to leave next week on a trip. I will be pulling the toy hauler (about 6500 lbs) on some pretty heavy hills in UT and CO and do not want to have a trans issue. Any Suggestions?
The other thing you could do would be to get yourself a trans temp gauge so you can keep an eye on things. That would remove all doubt and it may be worth the money just to put your mind at ease.
Anyway, Welcome to the site! There is enough knowledge on here to keep you learning for years.
