Other than the monitoring of oil and coolant temps, ensuring coolant is fresh and system flushed, on time filter changes, keeping EGT and boost within tolerable ranges, are there any other issues unique to the 6.0 that are essential to continued reliability? What is the relivence of fuel pressure monitoring? Thanks, Bill
Bill if your fuel pressure drops it will kill fuel injectors, get the up dated fuel pressure kit.
He only needs the update if he's current pressure is low. If you slap the update in there...and ramp the pressure up over 70-75 psi you'll blow the o-rings off the injectors.

Nothing below 45psi EVER! Somewhere between 55 to 65 is a good range to have the pressure at...especially wide-open-throttle. Wulfman does bring up a good point, the updated fuel pressure regulator spring kit is a good idea...but only if your pressure is low. If it's already in the upper 50s into the 60s...let it go. There's a chance you could over pressurize the system and blow the o-rings off the injectors. A set of gauges or ScanGaugeII are both good ideas. The ScanGaugeII if you want to keep it simple or pryometer, fuel pressure, eng oil temp, eng coolant temp would be my first choices....if you wanted to go "old school" and use separate gauges.
The 2005's are somewhat prone to leaks in the high pressure oil system. I would get an OBDII gauge package that will monitor ICP (high pressure oil system pressure) and the IPR duty cycle (as well as what has already been mentioned).
Your responses are very much appreciated. With all the performance elements that should be monitored on the 6.0 it's obvious that additional gauges are necessary, as my Edge only allows me to view 4 functions at one time. Again, thanks!
OK, so as I see it, (and please correct me if appropriate) = Good idea is to go with Scangauge II, + add two additional "old school gauges", for EGT and Fuel Pressure.
Does that summarize the conclusion on 6.0 monitoring?
yes that is an option, or you can go with either the edge CTS or DashDaq. Either one of them are OBDII gauges that have the ability to add external senders to them.
