the bypass from soil isn't in addition to your 1995 filter, it replaces it in whole. And the bypass 2Micronesia filter doesn't filter what's already passed through the 15 micron, it filters the unfiltered oil. You can control the flow rate for more cleaning if you wish by changing out the reduce plug in the filter head for on with a larger hole. Yes, it removes soot Nd other harmful deposits. There r high soot levels in your oil usually instantly turning it black. With a few rounds of running synthetic with the bypass filter, even at ten thousand miles your oil looks clear enough to re-bottle and sell haha and another advantage is, synthetic is a super cleaner. It will remove any sludge your engine was able to load up with.
That being said, if you have a small oil leak, prepare for it to be a large one. The synthetic will 1 clean any debris that was slowing the flow anxious 2 is thinner so it increases the food rate. It will also make your injectors run better, no sludge guming your hpop or lines up with cap.
Also with the bypass it gives you the option to add a second bypass filter for longer oil life or un a online cooler. I get my oil tested every 5000 miles and get a reading of its viscosity, its contamination of metals, what metals if any, any coolant and a % of its additives letting md know the remaining life of my oil. I have never needed to put another additive to my oil to bring the levels back up, just change the oil
So If I understand this correctly (thanks Neal) Its function is similar to that of a coolant filter
It takes a small amount of oil each pass and fine filters the oil. ??
This is correct. It is the exact same principle as the coolant filter. But it operates separate from, and in addition to, the main oil filter. Not in series, and not a replacement.

Negative. It does not replace the 1995 filter, it is in addition to the main filter. At least this is how it was explained to me for proper flow and filtration and this is how i have mine set up. If yours if different, please enlighten us.

The amsoil replaces the 1995 with its own 15 micron and adds a 2 micron next to it. When i get access to a computer i will add pics or if u don't mind, click my name here, find threads submitted by me and look for the amsoil bypass thread. Start at the last page and work your way forward, it was early when i got here. There's detailed pictures you can link to or copy here
Ok, my bad, we were talking apples and oranges. I didnt realize you were talking about the amsoil unit. Yes, the amsoil unit will replace the factory unit. Your autocorrect on your phone had me confused.
Ole Marv gives a pretty good write up, I ordered the filter base and filter online, printed out the hose dimensions and had a local hydraulic shop make me up some hoses, I found a piece of rectangle tubing just like Marv sitting in my scrap pile. All went together nicely. I may opt for the shorter filter in the future if i feel it hangs too low when going to hunting lease.
