Anyone use brake rotors from these guys?
I'm thinkin' of getting the fronts, cross drilled and slotted. Price seems very reasonable, they say there made in the U.S. Premium Dimpled and Slotted Brake Rotors
Not what you asked BUT - I use lifetime warranty (currently Bosch) rotors from O'Riellys ~$90ea. With EBC Yellowstuff pads, I'm getting 70k miles or so out of a set without warping - and thats with a truck that weighs 10k lbs on avg with LOTS of miles towing 12k lb 5ver/TT and driving in the mountains.
O'Riellys will swap these out no-questions-asked. My last set did have some heat stress cracks - but never warped, although warping is covered by waranty.
My recommendation is spend the extra $$$$ on the good pads, since those dimpled, drilled, slotted or otherwise molested rotors won't make ya stop any faster anyway. The pads however, WILL - and they are the largest contributing factor to warping as well...
Those look like EBCs to me. I have them on all four and they're great, but I may have gotten carried away. I haven't had brake fade with water on roadway since I got them... so there's that. I use semi-metallic pads. I've read many articles about ceramics damaging rotors, but I have no experience with ceramics... so it's worth getting a lot of input on the pads.
This is what I bought for my wife's Excursion, a week or so ago. [FRONT + REAR KIT] 4 DRILLED SLOTTED BRAKE ROTORS AND 8 CERAMIC PADS 4WD 4X4 | eBay
They are slotted, drilled rotors and ceramic pads, it is from Brake Motive. Under $250 shipped for all 4 rotors and pads. Others I have talked to on FTE have rated them highly. I have not even opened the boxes yet. Once I get around to putting them on I will be able to put in my own 2 cents about them.
i do not use drilled slotted rotors, they eat the brake pads.
i use NAPA premiun rotors and ceramic pads. 55,000 miles co far on the 02, and 65,000 miles on the crown vic.
the fronts on the 88 average 85-90,000 miles.

Get the plain rotors, and good pads. Just did all 4 of mine plus new calipers and mounts and my about smacked my head on the wheel the 1st time I hit the brakes. Good pads, calipers that are lubed and working properly and good brake line pressure are what stop these trucks. Rotors you want a warranty, and don't get drilled and slotted, IMO waste of money, unless you are a daily tower up and down a mountain and heat is an issue. If you want to get the best rotor IMO find a Cryo-treated standard rotor.
Ceramic pads last a long time and produce little dust. They SUCK at stopping a big, heavy truck. They also tend to warp the crap out of rotors. Thats my experience in over 350k miles on (2) PSD's.
I know alot of folks are proud of those drilled/slotted and otherwise molested rotors, but the fact is - they are not made for these big trucks. I'm sure they have some advantages on a Formula 1 car, but I doubt they use them for more than one race - same with the ceramic pads. I have no idea why they would provide a 'lifetime warranty' on rotors - but you can bet your a$$ I have taken strong advantage of it. The only rotor I've bought for the dually in 6yrs was one I trashed due to a stuck slide pin.
The difference in performance with the EBC Yellowstuff pads (I get mine from Riffraff ) is truly amazing. While these pads are not 'grabby', they do require less pedal pressure to stop and brake fade is something I have yet to experience. I have BEAT these pads and rotors and still saw ~70k miles out of the last set WITHOUT warping the rotors. My truck has weighed up to 14k lbs w/o a trailer and I live in the mountains. I dunno why I would ever bother to even try another set-up.
I had gotten to the point that I tried to never use my brakes HARD and was uber-careful not to let them get hot on mountain grades - IOW's, driving s l o w. This was the only recipe to get a set of rotors to last without warping. Now, I just DRIVE and have not warped a rotor yet with Yellowstuff pads - on the Excursion or F350. Including dragging the 12k lb Toy Hauler behind X in my sig for >30k miles last year.
lifetime warranty on rotors? Ya don't see that everyday..........I have Powerslot Cryo rotors with Hawk Pads. They stop great, and I tow all summer long.
When I did my brakes a little while back, I used NAPA premium rotors and the "extreme duty" pads. My wife works for NAPA is the main reason I used them(discount). The NAPA rep advised me the extreme duty is what you want for a heavy truck that tows heavy loads as my truck does. They don't last as long as ceramic, but he said they were the best for stopping power....which is what I wanted. Anyway, I'm not a brake expert, but my truck seems to stop better than it ever has after I installed them. I have never tried any of the crossed drilled rotors or kevlar pads or any of those specialty brake parts I have read about, so those may be better. But, for what it's worth, I am happy with the performance of the NAPA stuff thus far.
