*If this should be in the big block section, I apologize*
Hello all. Been a long time. For those that don't know, I have a 79 F100
It's had a 460 swap for years,
but the engine was VERY tired. I have a well built 460 ready to drop in, but I've since used the accessory brackets on another project.
Queston is, the engine I have that is going into the truck uses the Saginaw power steering pump and the GM Harrison/Frigidaire A/C setup. Regardless of hose fabrication, will the long cylindrical Frigidaire compressor work in my F100 2wd, or will it have interference issues?
looks like you will have a lenght issue / lining up pulley's.... can a shorter clutch/pulley be swapped? Might have to track down all the bracketry from one of those units that did use it ....
Sorry not much help from my end .....
thats the same pulley setup that was on my engine.. mine was from a 72 Lincoln. when i put it in the window washer resivor wouldn't fit. So i just went and got the serpentine setup from a 92 f250. I would suggest the van setup tho because it has the Saginaw power steering pump
I actually have a full van setup from an 86 E350, carb'd RV. Dual air pumps Sanden style A/C compressor, Saginaw P/S pump and all.
Looks like it'd be a nightmare to clean up this setup, removing the air pumps. Will this van stuff work in my F100 and be fairly bolt in? I didn't even think of using it.

the only thing is you will need to make a spacer for the waterpump pully and machine the holes in the pully for the smaller bolt pattern. or get the newer water pump. the reason i didnt get the new one was i have a brand new fan clutch, and i didnt wanna have to replace the pump with the engine in the truck because im lazy to make the spacer i just got a hole saw and cut a piece of 1/8 inch steel. then i marked the holes and drilled it out. For the pulley i had our mechanic put it in his mill. But you could do it with a air grinder and i carbide bit. For the alternator there is one wire that goes to a switched source and one that goes to the battery. But rember this is all for a 92.. im not sure if the year you have would be the same, the only way to know is try it. Not that hard to do with the engine out of the truck. i did mine ina day with the engine in the truck
I have (and was going to use) the water pump from the E350. I know the Sanden compressors are better than the OEM York, and the Saginaw pumps are better than the plastic Fomoco pump.. So basically this is a bolt on deal that will fit?? (other than needing a/c hoses fabbed, and p/s hoses)..
and I'm guessing I can cut off the dual air pumps (no smog here anyway for this truck)?
Are there any clear pictures of what the van stuff looks like *mounted*? I didn't pull this engine, so I am staring at brackets scratching my head.

i can get you some picctures of my setup tomorow and i didnt have to cut the pumps off on mine, there was only one and it was bolted on.. is yours serpintine?
No. This is an older van... 86. V Belts. It was sourced from an RV. It has dual air pumps. Similar to this, with the saginaw pump and sanden compressor.
