I have a 04 F250 6.0 PS and was wondering if it would hurt to unbolt the exhaust right before the muffler (or cut it off) I plan on getting a full MBRP exhaust but not for another couple months. will this hurt the performance of the truck or should I just leave it? I want to get rid og the cat and the muffler if possible
03 7.3, I installed a 4 inch duell exhaust with muffler, wasn't the sound I wanted so I got rid of the muffler, sounds horny as now.
I will have to reinstall the muffler next month for rego though.
Ya gotta let diesels breathe.
i have been thinking bout doing this as well (removing the cat and muffler) can you just get some 4" exhaust pieces and put them in place of those two?
you can if the existing pipe is 4" otherise you will have to get adapters to go from whatever size you have to to 4" and back down. You can cut the cat and muffler off and straight pipe just those two. Still will have to get adapters or have the muffler shop expand both ends of the straight pipe so that they will slip on. Don't forget the u-bolts to clamp them in place.
yeah cause i was talking to a guy at napa and they can get a 4" pipe with the ends flared so that the inside diameter is 4" so it will slide right on and then clamp it in place
