muffler?

hey i want to open up the exhaust on my truck a little bit by cutting the muffler off but i dont have a welder to weld anything on after that so would it hurt to just cut it off before the muffler and just leave it like that untill i can get a welder?

yea u can cut it off right before the muffler as long as it exits behind the cab you should be good. it will be loud though. i cut mine off there when i had the stack and it stayed that way for awhile.

On mine the exhaust ends at about the front of the doors (single cab). It's not that loud, as I have an ATS Turbo for a muffler! Do it! I plan to add more pipe soon, but for the time being, I dig it. I won't be putting a muffler on either.

my muffler starts right after the cab so if i cut it off it would be like right at the end of the cab. i remember hearing something about it not being legal unless its passed the cab is this right?

straight pipes saves lives? but for real that turbo will help keep the noise down for most part.

It wont be bad with a turbo. AFAIK as long as your exhaust exits past the passenger compartment you should be OK. Just do what I did and take the muffler off and clamp on a 90* bend and a short length of pipe to get the exhaust out from underneath the truck.

you dont need a welder and it will make for easier work involving exhaust because you can drop just part of it. Do not use the u bolt clamps, get stainless band clamps, they dont crush the metal and have a better more even holding strength. my 4" pipe has a section that is just clamped in and no leaks at all.

awesome, thanks man. Yeah it makes it way easier to drop the pipes and do maintenance of the various exhaust system parts. You wouldnt want to weld it in at all.
